Make a Difference! Day of Doing Good

We all have hopes to make our world a better place, from peace to starvation, poverty to animal rights, we are constantly fighting for meaningful causes. Now with increasing volunteering opportunities, selfless generosity and random acts of kindness populated by many, making a difference, no matter how small, is possible. In 1992, USA Weekend magazine created “National Make a Difference Day”, encouraging people to make contributions in bettering the world. Since then, the day has been celebrated on every fourth Saturday of October and millions of people come together to improve the lives of others. Points of Light, the world’s largest organization dedicated to volunteer service is also a sponsor of this day, helping 5 million people in 20 million hours of service each year.

At HearingAmplifer, we are passionate about improving quality of life, especially for seniors. Are you aware that in the United States alone, nearly 9 million seniors face the threat of hunger? And 1 in 5 seniors feel loneliness, which has similar negative effects of smoking up to 15 cigarettes a day! These are some of the reasons we have strong focus towards helping seniors. Back in June, we celebrated Senior’s Month and gave away 24 of our hearing amplifiers to seniors in need. We were greeted with the sincerest smiles and gratitude, it made us feel beyond amazing. Please stay tuned for a video and blog on this! On top of that, our staff at HearingAmplifier also took time to volunteer at local retirement and senior homes during the weekend.

It was a weekend of love and support.
Remember, although "Make a Difference" day is over, everyday is a good day to spread kindness and help others.
